The illustrated maps within the Discover Suffolk website have been designed to give you information on local attractions, accommodation, walks and cycle routes, whilst allowing you to roam around and find out more about the area before you travel.

Exploring the Maps

Starting off at the complete map of Suffolk, you can select an area of interest by clicking on the map screen or by selecting one of the options to
the right (

).
As you explore further, you will then be given a more detailed map of your selected area and shown an overview of all the attractions available.

The initial map of Suffolk (above) is divided into quarters. Selecting a quarter reveals a more detailed map (left) displaying further areas with town names and areas of interest.
The areas available are also listed to the right (
position 4
) and offer example towns and villages to explore.

Once selected, an overview of the area chosen is displayed. This shows a selection of the featured hotspots for that area. These hotspots are listed to the right (
position 4
), giving you immediate access to information. At this level, the navigation bar below the map can be used to display other categories or rights of way.
This overview map is also divided into quarters, which can be clicked to display more detail.

The most detailed levels on the map pages are illustrated with clickable hotspot features. Clicking a hotspot will reveal an image and textual information in the area below the main map (

).
You can move around your chosen area to find more features by using the map navigation buttons below the map.
If you would like to explore a different area, use the 'zoom out' button or 'home' to begin again.
Enhancing your Exploration
The Discover Suffolk map pages offer further options to give you important information on Rights of Way, local walks, cycle routes and bus stops. You can turn these layers on and off, as well as individual hotspot categories by clicking the relevant button on the Map Navigation Bar (as shown below).
Rights of Way include all footpaths, bridleway and rupps. Local Walks and Cycle Routes are colour coded; the key for which can be found to your left (
position 5
). Information about the different routes can be viewed by clicking on a link in this key. Rights of Way are automatically displayed with Local Walks and Cycle Routes. To return to the normal view, re-click the toggle button.

The Angles Way
The Angles Way is a long-distance footpath running for 77 miles along the Norfolk and Suffolk border between Great Yarmouth and Knettishall Heath near Thetford. You can view the walk in its entirety and follow the hotspots along the route using the Discover Suffolk map pages.
The Angles Way is shown as a
green line
throughout all maps and can also be viewed alongside other walks by clicking 'Display Local Walks' (above). You can start exploring the Angles Way from the initial map of Suffolk by selecting an area of the map or by selecting 'Angles Way' in the right-hand menu (
position 4
). The second option will take you to the north end of the route in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
To follow the route across multiple maps, use the map navigation arrows below the main map as described above. Green arrows (shown in the key below) are also displayed if viewing the map at a more detailed level and these can be used to follow the route in either direction. Information on The Angles Way can be viewed by clicking the relevent walk in the key to your left (

).
