Discover Suffolk became a live web site in November 2006. The site was launched with the main aim of providing a wide range of recreational and countryside information across Suffolk by the end of 2008. We hope you will find the site both useful and interesting.
We are indebted to a wide range of support from both individuals and communities across the county and our major funders EEDA through EU Objective 2 and the Suffolk Development Agency through Investing in Communities.
The first areas to be launched were, The Saints, Halesworth and Eye / Hoxne. Then, in March we launched Debenham and Framlingham.
The next step has been to develop an eight map section on the Norfolk and Suffolk border highlighting The Angles Way, giving a detail interactive map and description of the route. This is now live (May 2007). During 2007 we will develop these maps to their full potential but for now they concentrate on the Angles Way and places close to it.
The project has also supported a range of improvements to countryside access and local schemes. These include resurfacing the Halesworth riverside path, removing stiles on the Eye countryside walk, providing a new cycle leaflet for the Eye area, improving paths in South Elmham. A new dial a ride transport service has also been provided around Halesworth.
Coming soon are interpretation boards for Hoxne and Denham, a new Brownsord Way leaflet for Framlingham and new walk leaflets combined with bus timetables will soon be available along the route of the Angles Way. Also, watch out for the new signs along the Angles Way to help you enjoy your day out and help you keep to the right route.
