Wool Towns Walk

Introduction

The Wool Towns Walk is a circular long distance trail of some 50 miles established by Sudbury Ramblers and Clare Walkers to connect the five historic Wool Towns of Clare, Sudbury, Hadleigh, Lavenham and Long Melford.

The Wool Towns provide a rich heritage founded on the medieval wool and cloth trades. Their rural situation, in roughly a circle that also includes parts of the Stour, Box and Brett valleys, makes for ideal walking country. It is well worth following the trail at a leisurely pace and allowing time to explore the historic towns and small villages en route.

The walk can be undertaken in four days of steady walking, or in up to eight separate stages. The trail is fully waymarked with an image of a Suffolk Sheep on an orange background. A full set of detailed guides with maps are available on a dedicated website (see further information below).

Give it a go and enjoy the Wool Towns Walk in a wonderful part of the country!
